This development comes after the girl’s father, Sumer Singh, wrote a heartbreaking letter to the Prime Minister, requesting him to either help the family bear the medical expenses or euthanize him.
Responding to his plea, the Prime Minister’s Office has released the required money from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund.
Speaking to news agency ANI, the girl’s father had said, “I want the government to help my daughter in getting the treatment. I have sold my land. My house is mortgaged. I have spent Rs 7 lakh on her treatment already. If she cannot be cured, I wished to die.”
Giving details of the girl’s treatment, the Agra-based labourer said that he had initially taken her to doctors in Delhi but no one agreed to treat her. Following this, he consulted a doctor in Jaipur who told him that his daughter needed a bone marrow transplant, which would cost at least Rs 10 lakhs.
